Correction of learning gaps and losses of students in grades 1 to 8 in public schools during periods of general outbreak of corona epidemic.

Providing learning opportunity to students with the participation of the head teacher and volunteers of the affiliated school, based on small groups near the student residence, outside the school premises, outside of school hours.

Re-strengthening the learning skills that students have already acquired in the school environment through the “Home Search Education” program.

The program is designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn for at least 1 to 10 hours daily (5 pm to 7 pm) for 6 months, gradually participating in daily learning activities.

Ennum Ezhuthum Mission is a part of the mega project of the govt. aiming to achieve Universal Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) by 2025. Ennum Ezhutthum was proposed to be launched when the schools were opened for these 1st to 3rd standards. However this academic year, schools could not be opened due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.

Illam Thedi Kalvi Scheme is still active and the government has proposed to mingle the literacy programme with education at doorsteps. The decision to begin literacy and numeracy mission at Illam Thedi Kalvi came since the authorities have no clue when the schools were reopened again for Class 1, 2 and 3.

34,05,856 students from 92,297 flats in Tamil Nadu are studying in government schools from 1st to 8th standard. The corona epidemic caused severe learning loss among students as schools did not function during periods of paralysis.

This rural residential based release project will help reduce learning losses among children. Since this is a voluntary based project, serious awareness needs to be created in the community for the successful implementation of this project.
