UDAN SCHEME | உதான் திட்டம்: SpiceJet, Air Deccan, Air India, Air Odisha and Turbo have all agreed to operate the service. It was decided to operate flights on 128 routes, connecting a total of 70 airports, including the 12 least used airports in secondary cities and 31 unused airports.
- Ude Desh Ka Aam Naagrik (UDAN) was launched as a Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) under the Ministry of Civil Aviation in 2016.

- To provide affordable, economically viable and profitable air travel on regional routes to the common man even in small towns.
- The scheme envisages providing connectivity to un-served and underserved airports of the country through the revival of existing air-strips and airports. The scheme is operational for a period of 10 years.
The “Udan Project”, a low-cost airline connecting small cities in the country, was launched by Prime Minister Modi.
As the Uthan project for inter-state regional connectivity for the general public was launched in 2016, the federal government. Now Krishi Uthan is going to launch a scheme for farmers. Under the Uthan scheme, financial incentives are extended to selected airlines based on the concessions made by the Center, State Governments and Airport Operators.
This is done to encourage operations from unbooked and fewer airports and to keep flights affordable. Similarly, the Krishi Udhan project will also attract incentives from the government to airlines. And airport operators for transporting agricultural produce to various parts of the country.
At least a few seats on Uthan flights are offered at a subsidized price and a certain amount of Reliability Gap Fund (VGF) is offered to participating carriers.
The VGF amount is shared with the Central Government and the concerned State Governments. The Krishi Uthan Yojana is a path breaking path as farmers will be given subsidized prices and their agricultural produce will be provided.
